Summer 2008 Travel Plans

Group Update 2/13/08
Since we last met, I have completed the CEF grant and turned it in. Hopefully we will be funded and be able to go to Nanae this summer as planned. For those of you who have not checked the school system's courses, I have organized a five-session study group entitled Japan: Democratic Friend and World's Second Largest Economy. The dates are March 18, March 25, April 8, April 29. and May 20. It will meet from 1:00-3:00 in the Willard library. Please feel free to sign up. You do not have to be going to Japan. I will keep you posted on further developments on the Japan front.

Organizational meeting 11/27/07 at 3:15 at Tom's house in the Willard neighborhood.

The organizational meeting was well attended and a success. There is a lot of interest in the trip to Japan and learning how to do a wiki. This is fun.

I had a wacky idea last night. I think we have the basis for a terrific School Library Journal piece. Librarians as facilitators for a global relationship, use of Web 2.0 tools to foster classroom and teacher connections as well as student learning, district trust in the library as the place to invest resources for the promotion of global education - I'd read that article!

By the way, I added this wiki to my RSS feed using Google Reader. Everytime someone posts it will pop up in my reader. That way I don't have to remember to check back. I LOVE iGoogle!
